About Walter

Walter Haines’ writing journey began at the age of 19 with, oddly enough, salvation messages on toilet stalls on an armed forces base. Where better for God to birth a writing gift in an almost English-flunking high school student than in a toilet stall. Who gets the glory? Not him, but God! Right?

Upon his spiritual rebirth, this ordinary vessel became a studious lover of the written biblical words. Shortly thereafter, he became a lover of writing words. Much to his surprise, readable words and engaging paragraphs began flowing from his pen.

Twenty-three years later, Valatar’s Stronghold flowed onto his computer screen as he pecked away on the keyboard with his two typing fingers.

Inspired? He thinks so since the story came out of an empty writer’s bucket; no plot, no characters, not even a hint of a story line. As characters plopped onto the screen, he continually wondered who they were and what they would do. Thus, to him, Valatar’s Stronghold is “God’s book.”

Oh yes, his own mind was involved in the inspiration process as he weaved the message of deliverance throughout the story. And there was some backing up to make changes and adjustments as the story unfolded. As well, many years later, there was much editing and re-working of scenes. But, essentially, the plot and the characters are God’s.

Why would God choose him to write Valatar’s Stronghold? Well, the deliverance ministry transformed his own life over a period of many years—much too slowly, to his liking. But the slow, drawn-out, one, two, or several at time process of deliverance taught him much about how demons affect people’s lives. He learned from it. And Valatar’s Stronghold is a culmination of what he learned.

Walter’s earnest desire is that, besides being entertained by the story, you will come away with a better, more realistic understanding of evil spirits, and of the ministry of deliverance from them. May God make that a reality for you.

Then along came “In The COVID-19 Lion’s Den” , “Canada Post Monster Managers.” Not the kind of story Walter ever thought he would write and will ever write again. But a story he was thrown into because of inadequate COVID-19 safety protocols during the pandemic in the Canada Post facilities where he worked.

His sense of duty to his coworkers and to Canadians drew him into this conflict with Canada Post managers, who he discovered feel they are above the law. And being amongst the rich, the powerful, and the elite of this world there was little ordinary employees or citizens had or could do to compel them to obey the laws of our country—just like everyone else has to. The only thing he had was his “pen” which, as the saying goes, is “mightier than the sword.”

So, that is what he did. He began his writing campaign and he kept his head above water as these managers tried to drown him as they abused their position and power to harass him, and by so doing, they trampled underfoot Canada Post’s safety polices, their Code of Conduct, the Canada Labour Code, the Duty to Accommodate, the Human Right’s Act, etc.

Walter’s writing journey will not stop there. He has many more books God will have him write which will flow out of that writing gift planted within him many years ago. He invites you to come with him on this journey.
